Rescue efforts after the earthquake in Turkey continue to attract attention on social networks. After the proliferation of videos in which rescuers save citizens affected by the catastrophe, Internet users have focused their attention on a more peculiar scene: the images show how a small dog is rescued alive from the rubble.

The video, which has already gone viral online, shows how the animal calmly waits to get out of the rubble that has buried it. This tragedy has taken place due to the seismic storm that hit the country on Monday, and which has left behind more than 16,000 deaths to date.

The images show the exact moment in which the members of the rescue teams found the head of the animal. Upon hearing the human presence, the dog tries to remove the rest of his body, but ends up hurting himself, so the experts calm him down to prevent further damage.

The process is not pleasant for the dog, who screams as rescuers remove rubble, showing how affected he has been after the catastrophe. However, the little animal ends up experiencing a miracle: after opening space among the remains of rubble for three minutes, he is finally released and transferred to provide first aid.

The rescue forces continue to save citizens without pause, despite the fact that the rescue efforts have been hampered by the “severe weather conditions”, says Kerem Kinik, head of the Turkish Red Crescent. Still, emergency workers have not given up, managing to save several children on Wednesday under a collapsed boulder in Turkey’s Hatay province.

Authorities confirm that the death toll from the earthquakes that shook Turkey and Syria this week is around 16,000. Likewise, the number of injured must be taken into account, with fractures and serious cuts, which could exceed 60,000 affected. Fortunately, many families continue to hold out hope of seeing their loved ones again.
