One of the key aspects when preparing your weekly or monthly bath cooking is vacuum packaging. Thanks to this technique, you can keep any recipe, side dish or fresh food safely in the refrigerator or freezer. But what happens if you don’t have a vacuum packaging machine? You are in luck! Luckily, we have discovered a very easy and economical home trick that will save you from this predicament after hours and hours in the kitchen. You only need a plastic bottle and a hair dryer!
The user @efer47 explains in a video published on TikTok how you can completely suck the air out of the zip-type bags used to preserve food in a vacuum. Once you have placed the products you want to store in the bags, first cut the top half of an empty plastic bottle with the help of a cutter or scissors and place a straw in the mouthpiece. Next, attach the bottle to the dryer fan and insert the straw inside the plastic bag. Afterwards, you just have to plug in the dryer to suck out the excess air. That easy!
With the dryer on, you can simply and effectively suck out the air that remains inside the freezer bag with the straw. You will be able to see how little by little the food is compressed until creating a vacuum. If necessary, use your hands to press lightly on those parts of the bag where bubbles may be created to ensure that all the air is completely sucked out. Only when you see that your food is properly packaged can you disconnect the dryer and close the bag tightly. This way you can preserve the week’s food without fear of it spoiling!
Once you have vacuum sealed all the bags, you can store them in the refrigerator or freezer. If you choose the latter option, you can score the bag with a knife before putting them in the chest to create equal portions. This way, you can defrost only those portions that you are going to cook the next day, while preserving the rest for another occasion. This is undoubtedly a method with which you will make the most of the food you have prepared during your bath cooking and is applicable to both dishes, garnishes and fresh products and foods.
