While customers may not directly interact with Oracle software, it plays a significant role in managing databases for banks, storing patient records for hospitals, and handling inventory and sales for retail businesses.
The lawsuit alleges that Oracle has been tracking the personal information of hundreds of millions of individuals, including their search history, purchases, and location, through its databases and software. It further claims that Oracle sells this personal information to third-party companies without obtaining consent from the individuals affected.
Although Oracle denies any wrongdoing, it has agreed to the substantial $115 million settlement amount to resolve the claims.
To be eligible for a payment from the settlement fund, individuals must have resided in the U.S. for a period since August 19, 2018, and their personal data must have been acquired, captured, or collected by Oracle Advertising technologies or made available for use through specific Oracle Advertising products or services.

While some affected individuals have already received notification via email, others can still file a claim by providing their name, address, and contact information. Validated claims will result in payments being issued via prepaid debit card, direct deposit, Venmo, or Zelle.
