Can Serra dels Exibis is the northernmost winery in the Pla de Bages DO, at 500 meters above sea level. It offers poor soils, with low rainfall and strong thermal fluctuations, already marked in the area.

Exibis was born with the desire to recover the singular historical character of the wines of the area, with a clear commitment to old varieties such as Sumoll and Mandó, articulated through Cabernet Sauvignon.

Its organically grown vineyards. These are the first vineyards in Bages accompanied by work and a biodynamic gaze.

The winery was created when Joan Soler decided to plant 2.5 hectares of vineyard in Navàs, in the northern area of ??the Pla de Bages, between 2009 and 2010, divided between the mandó, sumoll negro and cabernet sauvignon varieties.

The intention of this combination is to develop the learning of the two local varieties, making sure, in the beginning, to make a blend with the cabernet to help market the wines that may come out. The project also contemplates the cultivation of a sumoll vineyard at 6,000 vines/ha, the density at which they had been planted in the past

Since 2011, work begins with biodynamic rhythms and preparations both in the preparation of the same compound and in the fertilization and balance of the crop.

The winery is a 90 m2 converted agricultural warehouse, with no other ambition than to house the 5 warehouses and a small heated warehouse with barrels and a “bottle rack” that allowed the project to begin, giving all importance to the work in the vineyard.

The idea is to base the wines on a coupage of these varieties with the aim of guaranteeing the continuity of their quality and the appearance of wines with an exclusive varietal presence of mandó and red sumoll.

La Rasa 2019, your new future

His red wine La Rasa 2019 represents the new future of the DO Pla de Bages, recovering indigenous varieties, the sumoll and the almost disappeared mandó

Deep garnet color with flashes of reddish vivacity. In aroma it slowly awakens with notes of cherry, red fruits and an outstanding rustic atmosphere given by the sumoll and the mandó that present withered rose and fallen leaves.

In evolution, the red fruit increases without losing the ripe perfume of the Mandó, debating in the background small notes of toast, minerals and balsamic typical of vineyards surrounded by forest.

In the mouth, each variety contributes its personality in a structured set that surprises by giving certain sensations of emptiness at the same time. The meatiness of the Cabernet Sauvignon dominates the middle of the mouth.

The Sumoll gives it a very lively acidity that melts into freshness, while the Mandó fills the mouth with its mature perfume of dried flower, in a set that leaves a memory of good structure and lightness at the same time.

Ideal for dishes accompanied by potatoes, grilled vegetables or mushrooms. A well-cured cheese and sausages from the land.
