Barcelona, ??second best gastronomic destination in the world

Savoring the cuisines of other countries is an increasingly common reason to take a plane, but there are places that attract more attention from travelers due to their recipes and restaurant offerings. It seems to be the case of Barcelona, ??which in the new list of the British travel agency Titan Travel, which includes the best destinations for gastronomy lovers, occupies no less than second place.

The ratings of the restaurants on Tripadvisor and the number of Michelin stars they have are some of the aspects that this ranking values, which also takes into account whether there are alternatives for vegetarians and vegans, elegant establishments or businesses that accept children.

In the case of Barcelona, ??they highlight that it has 4.07 restaurants, one of them with a Michelin star, per km². Let us remember that in this city there are more than a hundred starred establishments, and that four have the highest recognition of the red guide. They are Lasarte, Cocina Hermanos Torres, ABaC and, finally, Enjoy, which achieved this distinction in the latest edition of Michelin.

The Catalan capital reaches a score of 9.64 out of 10, an achievement that according to this British company is due to the wide range of Spanish cuisine dishes available in its restaurants, such as paella, patatas bravas or gazpacho.

It does not list any elaboration from the extensive Catalan recipe book, but it does list the numerous “essential” local foods that make the gastronomy of this city possible and that have influenced the opening of traditional cuisine restaurants.

It is not the first time that Barcelona achieves such a high position in an international ranking aimed at foodies. Last summer, the data analysis portal Stadista pointed out that it was the European destination where the best food is, ahead of cities such as Paris, Madrid and Rome.

Paris, long considered the culinary capital of Europe, occupies first place in the Titan Travel ranking with a score of 9.93 out of 10. It has 6.75 restaurants, 4.65 of them with a Michelin star, per km² and , according to this company, some of the most luxurious establishments in the world.

In the French capital, there is also Guy Savoy, the best restaurant in the world according to La Liste, a guide created by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs that recognizes the 1000 best tables in the world every year since 2015).

Paris and Barcelona are followed by other cities such as Miami, Amsterdam, Taipei, Denpasar, Kuala Lumpur, New York, London and Las Vegas.
