Assisi, the golden retriever that welcomes students every day at a school in Sabadell: “What a good initiative”

Golden retrievers can be one of the friendliest and nicest dogs. This has been demonstrated by Assisi, a dog of this breed that stands in the hallway of a school every morning with one goal in mind: to welcome the students.

As detailed in the Diari de Sabadell, this golden retriever receives secondary school students at eight in the morning, and preschool and primary school students at nine. A gesture that makes the students happy.

As the teachers tell it, Assisi is one more at the school: “He works at the school, and is included in the school budget and everything,” they point out. Likewise, the furry boy will accompany his friends from 4th year of ESO on their end-of-year trip to Mallorca.

Assisi’s presence also contributes to the cleanliness of the facilities, since the school yard must remain clean at all times: “There cannot be any papers, otherwise he will eat them,” says Carlos Fuentes, director of the center.

This golden retriever has been living with the 500 students and teachers of the Sant Francesc school in Sabadell for eight years, making him a pillar of the center.

This initiative has generated all kinds of comments on networks; Some users defend it by pointing out that it is a great idea: “What a good initiative, I also experienced it in a nursing home, it is very nice” or “I love it, I think it could be done in many more schools, if the facilities allow it.” are some of the reactions. Likewise, some Internet users have highlighted the negative part: “That’s right… the day it’s missing is going to be a drama.”
