Veranos de la Villa will kick off the first week of its 39th edition on July 5, which will feature aerial dance, contemporary art and movie tours, the Madrid City Council reported in a statement.
Specifically, the program’s kick-off will be Sylphes, a show that combines aerial dance at 35 meters high, acrobatics and live music by the Verum Symphony Orchestra with the theme of Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons at the adaptation of the German-British composer Max Richter. It will take place on the Puente del Rey, in the Manzanares riverbed, on the nights of July 5 and 6.
In the words of Roberto Strada Walemberg, director of Aerial Strada, “in the sky of Madrid, the Sylphes travel with the moon to change the seasons of the year. Attracted by the music, they touch the earth. Their ethereal condition is contaminated. The moon abandons them and lose their powers. Through the four seasons, the spirits of the air will search for the magic that will return them to their universe.”
In addition, from August 6 to 27 at the Serrería Belga Cultural Space you can enjoy the Chicano art exhibition In Your Face: Chicano Art After C.A.R.A., which follows in the footsteps of the historic exhibition organized in Los Angeles in 1990 Chicano Art : Resistance and Affirmation.
Organized in collaboration with the Embassy of Mexico in Spain and AltaMed, it is curated by Susana Smith Bautista and contains works belonging to the private AltaMed collection, which is exhibited for the first time in Spain and covers different disciplines, from sculpture to photography, passing by engravings, paintings and mixed techniques.
