TikToker Anthonyxavi, who has nearly 20,000 followers, has surprised his community with a video in which he showed his approach to enjoying an affordable breakfast in front of the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona. The traveler reveals his strategy to avoid the high prices of tourist breakfasts.
In the video, the traveler begins by explaining the situation of breakfasts in Barcelona, ??pointing out that they are aimed mainly at tourists and that the prices are notoriously high. As an alternative he explains that he chose to go to a Mercadona which is located right in front of the Gaudí monument.
For his breakfast he bought a bread with cheese for 45 euro cents, a peach smoothie for 1.40 euros, a portion of potato omelette for two euros and a bottle of water for 80 cents. Altogether, it cost him 4.65 euros.
In addition, the tiktoker highlighted that Mercadona has microwaves available for customers, which allowed them to heat their food and enjoy a complete breakfast.
The video has accumulated more than 182,500 views and more than 250 comments, among which criticism stands out for using a supermarket chain instead of promoting local commerce. “Thank you for helping local commerce, let’s see what Mercadona you find on Sundays,” said a TikTok user. “I absolutely would not do the same. Consumption makes money move. Remember where you come from,” another user reproached him.
The influencer asked for names of places where he could enjoy a coffee or a cheap meal in the Sagrada Familia area, who were reproached for what he did. “I walked for more than half an hour in that area and found nothing,” he said. “Coffee is 4 euros and a Brunch is 15, is that okay?” He rebuked those who criticized him.
