Despite the fact that in the last year prices in Spain have risen significantly due to inflation, which is a problem for thousands of Spanish families, the truth is that if we compare them with those of other countries, they are still quite cheap.

This has been demonstrated by the TikTok user @travel_luke, a young Argentine who is dedicated to showing the reality of the countries he visits during his adventures. Lukas Hudak has decided on this occasion to compare the shopping cart of his last two destinations, Italy and Spain, something that has left more than one speechless.

The tiktoker has visited the supermarkets of the two countries to make a comparison that is as real as possible. He begins his research by checking the price of a liter of oil, a staple in the kitchen of any lover of Mediterranean cuisine. While the liter in Italy can be bought at €1.99, our country offers it at €1.55.

Regarding flour, another basic when cooking, it can be found in Italian supermarkets for €0.69, while Spain sells a kilo for €0.64. At breakfast time, one of the most popular products is instant coffee, which in Italy costs around €2.69 per 100 grams, while Spain offers a 200-gram pot at €2.49.

As for tomato sauce, both European countries are close in price: an average supermarket in Italy offers it for €0.89 while a Spanish one sells it for €0.92. Back to basics, the content creator pays attention to pasta. While in its country of origin half a kilo can be purchased for €0.65, in Spain it is available for €0.61.

It would not be a good comparison if the price of eggs, one of the most used items in kitchens around the world, was not checked. In Spain, a dozen can be purchased for €1.99, while in Italy you will have to pay €2.15 for ten units. Finally, Travel Luke shows the liters of milk, which are no less than €0.99 in Italy, and €0.91 in Spain, a minimal difference.

Despite the fact that the differences between the prices shown are generally small, it is true that the shopping cart in our country can come out for a much lower price if basic foods are taken into account. What the user does not mention is that in Italy the average salary is different, something that definitely influences when making the purchase.
