A golden retriever dies after being transported by an airline to the wrong destination

A young Brazilian has faced the saddest news: the airline his dog was traveling with had sent him to the wrong destination, a mistake due to which the golden retriever lost his life.

Its owner, Joao Fantazzini, has denounced the situation on his Instagram profile. According to the Brazilian, the Gol airline sent Joca on a flight from São Paulo to Fortaleza instead of to Sinop, the city where he was heading. This mistake caused the dog to face a trip of almost eight hours.

Given this incident, the National Civil Aviation Agency (Anac) has opened an investigation for which the Gol airline will have three days to provide a statement. Likewise, Anac ensures that airlines are responsible for the transportation of pets “from boarding to receiving the animals.”

As for Gol, the airline claims to deeply regret the death of the golden retriever, announcing that they are suspending the transportation of pets for a month due to this “operational failure.”

The president of Brazil, Lula da Silva, has asked the airline itself to “be held accountable” for Joca’s death, becoming a highly media case in the South American country.

“I believe that Gol has to be held accountable and that the National Civil Aviation Agency (Anac) must supervise this. We cannot allow it to continue happening in Brazil,” Lula declared during a public event this Wednesday.
