In the palace the temperature is rising more than expected after the sudden dismissal of María Fernández and Vera feels a growing attraction for Lope, who helped her in the first place. The maid asks her for help in the kitchen where she makes advances to have something with her savior.
Salvador gets fed up with Jerónimo and threatens to cut his throat with a knife after an argument in which the former can’t take it anymore. The business with Cavendish continues its progress despite the obstacles that Alonso puts in place and Curro is increasingly in the sights of the marquises.
