Zoleka Mandela, granddaughter of Nelson Mandela, died last Monday at the age of 43. The South African activist and writer has died from cancer that had spread uncontrollably through her body.

The family has announced through social networks, where Zoleka was very followed, the death of the young activist: “Zoleka died on the afternoon of Monday, September 25, surrounded by friends and family,” the publication stated.

Thousands of people have mourned the death of Zoleka and wanted to rescue her message of “Peace, Passion and Positivity” that the granddaughter of the South African idol had always transmitted.

After learning that she had cancer, Zoleka was always a symbol of the elimination of stigmas and prejudices about the disease, showing an optimistic vision and a highly applauded vital force.

In 2010, Zoleka had to mourn the death of her daughter Zenani, who died in a traffic accident at the opening of the World Cup in South Africa, a moment that she said was the “darkest and most painful” of her life.

This Friday the funeral will be held at the Bryanston Methodist Church in Johannesburg, which is expected to be crowded due to Zoleka’s popularity in the country.
