Zendaya has become synonymous with the icon of Generation Z. Her desire to have fun with fashion and her chameleon-like style have captivated the masses. Whether following the ‘tenniscore’ trend at the Challengers premieres or wearing looks from another planet at the world premieres of ‘Dune, part II’, Zendaya has been crowned the queen of each presentation.

Aware of this, the all-powerful Anna Wintour chose her as one of the hosts of the 2024 Met Gala dedicated to that ephemeral beauty unaltered by the passage of time, taking as a starting point the dystopia ‘The Garden of Time’ by J.G.Ballard.

Zendaya chose a stunning Margiela couture design created especially for her by designer John Galliano. A fantasy suit that differs greatly from the designs chosen by her colleagues, since it is a brand with a dark imagery and gothic aesthetics.

The design is comprised of a bias-cut sage lamé and organza dress worn over a satin corset. The dress features hand-painted metallic horsehair bands, a layered drape and bow of iridescent foil and organza material, and a hand-embroidered corsage with hand-painted natural motifs in electric blue and emerald green.

The hand-painted feather-shaped veil and hat were created by Stephen Jones for Maison Margiela. And his Tabi shoes custom made by Christian Louboutin.
