A few days ago, the controversy around the COPE chain broke out. According to the El Confidencial outlet, an acclaimed journalist from the sports program Tiempo de juego, a space presented by Manolo Lama, Paco González and Pepe Domingo Castaño, allegedly defrauded his colleagues of thousands of euros.

The person who would have carried out such a feat is Guillermo Valadés, better known as Willy Valadés, a collaborator of Tiempo de Juego for more than two decades and a close friend of Paco González.

As confirmed by different media, the radio collaborator would have defrauded several of his colleagues thousands of euros in order to pay for a false treatment to combat the terminal cancer that he supposedly suffered.

When Valadés told his situation in the office, the workers who are by his side every day did not hesitate and offered financial help to pay for the medical tests and everything that was necessary for him to overcome the disease.

The first information provided by El Confidencial confirmed that Guillermo Valadés told the rest of the workers in the sports program that they had detected a brain tumor with metastases in his back and that the situation was very complicated.

In addition, the veteran communicator explained that the only option he saw as viable to survive was to undergo harsh and expensive experimental treatment at the Clínica de Navarra, a medical procedure that cost 10,000 euros per week. As some sources close to COPE explained to the aforementioned medium, Pepe Domingo Castaño, Xuancar González, Paco González and Manolo Lama turned to Valadés and paid him part of that money through the bonus they receive at the end of the year from advertising and sponsorships.

Until Paco González called the clinic and found out that there was no patient with the name of his friend, Valadés was earning up to 16,000 euros a week, an action that has separated the collaborator from the radio medium after a great dispute between the workers of the program .

According to the newspaper El Mundo, Guillermo Valadés is not the first member of his family to allegedly defraud someone, since his older sister, Carmen Valadés, did something similar several years ago.

The young woman kept, ten years ago, 410,000 euros from a legal process in which she officiated as a solicitor representing the Caja de Ahorros del Mediterráneo, an entity that is now absorbed by Banco de Sabadell. Because of this, Valadés and her husband were sentenced to 3 and a half years in prison for misappropriation.

After a long process that lasted for the time in which Guillermo Valadés’s sister blamed a colleague with whom she had shared an office for more than 15 years (she stated that she used the money to buy a high-end car) , finally it was shown that she had been responsible for the crime and the Madrid Association of Attorneys opened a file on her and expelled her. Although there is not much information, according to El Mundo, Valadés served a sentence in the Victoria Kent center in Madrid.
