Walnut-sized or back-length, in traditional black and white or vibrant colours, hyper-realistic in style or a unique mix of trends. The world of tattooing has long since become an art in itself, capable of creating all kinds of impressive pieces, some of them with a lot of personality. Therefore, it is not surprising that more and more people are encouraged to go through a tattoo studio. However, one must be careful with which moment is chosen.
Tattoo artists do not rest during the summer, however, this is considered the worst time of the year to acquire one of these designs on the skin. Although it is true that it does not mean that one cannot get their long-awaited tattoo during the summer, it will be necessary to take many more precautions and attention in their care than if it were another time on the calendar.
Summer brings with it a series of conditions that cause the healing of a newly made tattoo to be threatened in various ways. Specifically, the risk of becoming infected is much higher. For this reason, bathing on the beach or in the pool should be prohibited until the tattoo is healed. Do not forget that tattoos are a wound and, as such, can be affected by bacteria and microorganisms that are harmful to the health of the skin.
Another aspect to take into account is sweat. Due to the high summer temperatures, the body sweats more, so the tattoo is more likely to become irritated and to complicate its healing due to exposure to moisture. Without forgetting the solar factor, it is important that the newly made tattoo is not exposed to the sun and that it remains covered for the necessary time, and then well protected with sunscreen.
Tattoos can take months to heal completely, however, the first month will be crucial, since it is when it requires the most care, especially in summer. One of the basic rules is not to expose it to sea or pool water, at least during the first four weeks. This is due to both the risk of wound infection and the need to avoid moisture. In fact, this is one of the reasons why sports should not be practiced either, since sweating will affect the tattoo. Another fundamental aspect to take into account is exposure to the sun, the tattoo should be covered and avoid direct sunlight during the first month after it was done.
