Last Sunday, Alfonso Rueda achieved the fifth absolute majority in Galicia for the Popular Party, the first for him as president of the Xunta. A broad victory in which he consolidates himself as the leader of the popular Galicians after the departure and departure of Alberto Núñez Feijoo.
His image as a hard-working, family-oriented and trustworthy man, however, would not have been possible without one person: his wife, Marta Coloret, who has remained by his side for the last 35 years and married for more than two decades. Together they have formed the ideal family, along with their two daughters, who accompanied the politician both on the day of reflection and on election day itself.
Walking through Monte Pedroso, the entire family appeared united again before the voters. An image very faithful to the style of the politician, a self-confessed “fan” of his family. The three have remained with the politician against all odds, and this electoral campaign has been the perfect time to meet the wife of the Popular Party candidate in the last Galician elections.
Almost 35 years with Marta Coloret, who has served as “first lady” in Galicia since 2022, but who rarely appears publicly. Coloret has never wanted to be visible in photos or be a protagonist in the media. Even so, she has given statements on some occasions, revealing unpublished data about her relationship with the politician, such as that they met thanks to a friend while they were university students.
“It was at a party in Santiago, where a mutual friend introduced us,” Marta Coloret herself revealed in a video shared by the Popular Party account on social networks just before the Galician elections. Now, the couple told a somewhat altered version of that first meeting for years so that their family would not ask unnecessary questions.
“The version for my parents, the family… was in college, when we both did Law, and we were also in the same course. The reality? At a party in Santiago that a mutual friend introduced us to. A whopping 35 years,” Coloret recalled.
They both studied Law at the University of Santiago de Compostela, and the spark arose without remedy. In 2000, they married in the church and, as a result of their relationship, two girls were born: Beatriz (21) and Marta (19).
Coloret began his career in the Santander group. First in Vigo, then to Santander and, finally, in Pontevedra, where he continues to carry out his work today. A relationship that they combine perfectly, between work, dedication to their daughters and motorcycle rides, the passion of both in their free time.
“At home he is Alfonso, father Alfonsito for my daughters,” explained Marta, who also revealed that as soon as the president of the Xunta arrives at her house “he leaves the position outside.”
