Concha Velasco, one of the most charismatic and versatile artists in our country, has left us. The performer died this Saturday, December 2, at the Puerta de Hierro Hospital in Majadahonda, at the age of 84, after two years removed from her beloved stages. The news was confirmed by her children, Manuel and Paco, through a statement sent to the media. The actress’s family explained that the transfer occurred “as a result of a complication in her illness.” The news has shocked all the artist’s followers, who could not help but share some of her best moments on social networks as a tribute.

It was this Saturday morning when the news of the actress’ death came to light. “We regret to inform that our mother, Concha Velasco, died today, Saturday the 2nd at 02:00 at the Puerta de Hierro Hospital in Majadahonda, having received the Holy Sacraments, as a result of a complication in her illness,” the shared statement reported. by his two sons, Manuel and Francisco. The ‘ye-yé girl’ suffered lymphatic cancer in 2014, and after the pandemic she herself recognized that her condition had worsened.

On the other hand, the actress’s family wanted to thank all the staff at the residence and the hospital where Concha has been admitted in recent years. “We have nothing but words of gratitude for the hospital staff, and the Santa Matilde and Orpea Punta Galea residences, who have taken such good care of her in these difficult times,” they thanked. “We are lucky to have enjoyed the best mother in the world and to receive the affection of so many Spaniards who love and admire her. Thank you all,” she expressed. “We ask for a prayer for the eternal rest of her soul. Our family will also thank you. Her children, Manuel and Paco,” the statement ended by saying.

As we said, social networks have been filled with tributes and expressions of affection for the actress. One of them has drawn special attention, since it was a fragment of a television program in which the actress demonstrated her decisive nature in defending the fact that plays were also made in Spanish in Barcelona. The statements came as a result of the hoax that Toni Cantó launched in which he claimed that in Barcelona she could not perform in Spanish.

It was on the program Cuatro al día, hosted at that time by Joaquín Prat, where the actress spoke out about these accusations against the Catalan capital. “Another thing I want to tell you is that I have been in Barcelona doing theater, and no one forbids speaking in Spanish. It is nonsense that Toni Cantó said, and I have already taken the opportunity to tell him that you can work in Spanish, especially in Barcelona. I have been in Barcelona until I got sick and they had to operate on me. In Barcelona, ??no one is prohibited from speaking Spanish,” he stated.
