What are retractable doors and why are they perfect for small spaces?

When decorating interiors, an endless number of aspects must be taken into account that can completely change the rooms and, above all, the sensations when entering them. From the different types of emotions that can be obtained with the choice of color to how the type of decoration that is chosen affects the identity of the home. In fact, furniture is usually what most captures the thoughts of those who are shaping their home. However, there is an essential element that usually goes unnoticed despite the multiple possibilities it offers: the doors, beyond the traditional ones. This will be especially relevant for those who live in small spaces, since sliding doors and the less known retractable doors will be their great allies.

Their main advantage is that they not only fulfill an interesting aesthetic role, offering more innovative and interesting proposals to the personality of a home, but they also provide key solutions in terms of functionality. Especially when it comes to retractable doors, since, in cases of limited space, they become the number one option.

Retractable doors are a type of sliding door, except that, in their case, they can alternate the appearance of a conventional door, which covers the space behind it, with another that makes them disappear completely when they are fully open. That is, when they open to the sides, a sliding system is activated that makes them fold in on themselves so that they are hidden from view, as if they were invisible. This is their main advantage, they serve to hide spaces in the room, which avoids visual noise, and, at the same time, when opened they take up practically no space and do not get in the way either.

Retractable doors are an excellent option for small apartments or homes, as they will help create a feeling of greater spaciousness and, at the same time, will be extraordinarily functional. They hide what you want to keep covered in the room and, when opened to access it, they do not represent a nuisance because they hardly need space to fulfill their function. Therefore, it is a very practical alternative in these cases. In fact, sometimes it could be the only option, since one of the negative points of sliding doors, another common alternative in these cases, is that they require a certain amount of space for installation. This does not happen with retractable doors.

They can be used in various places in the house, such as the bathroom, to hide a washing machine, for example. Or in the bedroom or other rooms, to keep clothes stored. However, they are especially common in kitchens, to create pantries. Or even in the case of very small apartments, in order to hide the space dedicated to the kitchen itself, as if it were a closet.
