The trial against Daniel Sancho for the murder of Colombian surgeon Edwin Arrieta continues in Thailand. After a five-day break for the celebration of Songkran or Buddhist New Year, the Provincial Court of Koh Samui resumed the sessions of the judicial process, which began on April 9 and will last until May 3, the day on which that Rodolfo Sancho’s son will know the final sentence.
In this second week of the trial, the police officers who participated in the investigation of the surgeon’s murder, which took place at the beginning of last August on the Thai island of Ko Pha Ngan, are scheduled to testify. According to the first information that has come to light, it seems that this last day on Wednesday would have been quite favorable for the Spanish chef.
As reported by the Telecinco program Vamos a ver this Thursday, the forensic reports from the Thai police showed the existence of four knives related to the crime of the Colombian surgeon.
”As you have learned, Let’s see, only one of those knives has DNA from Edwin Arrieta and Daniel Sancho. But this single knife also appears and is sent for analysis two weeks after the crime. Furthermore, this knife is not part of the list of items that Daniel Sancho supposedly bought to commit that murder with premeditation,” reported reporter Álvaro López from Thailand.
”The Police are analyzing four knives. The first of them only has biological remains of Daniel. She used it to open the bag and deposit Edwin’s remains into the sea. The second and third knives were bought by the police because the officers forgot to pick up the knives that Daniel had left in the sink. They buy them as an example to ask him if they were the same ones with which he cut up the corpse,’ the journalist said.
Moments later, the reporter gave details of the most important knife in the investigation. ”The fundamental thing is the room. It is the only one that contains biological remains of Arrieta and Sancho. It was found and sent for analysis on August 21, that is, two weeks after the crime was committed (…) It does not belong on Daniel’s shopping list,’ he claimed. ”At the moment, the Police are not able to prove that he bought it to kill and dismember Edwin,” he concluded.
