Toñi Moreno reminds Laura Pausini of her last high-profile meeting: "You pushed me out of the closet"

“Do you like women?” Laura Pausini innocently asked Toñi Moreno after a comment by the presenter on her Telecinco program Viva la vida. An issue that filled the headlines in our country with the journalist’s almost forced coming out of the closet. Since then, interviewer and interviewer had not seen each other again, until this weekend.

In a relaxed chat for Plan de tarde, a magazine hosted by Moreno, she brought out that notorious television moment, in addition to thanking him for “pushing” her out of the closet. The reunion between the two, close, affectionate and emotional, brought to the table the journalist’s need to feel free of her.

“We should have done this interview inside a closet,” joked Laura Pausini after greeting Toñi Moreno with two kisses. A comment that alluded to her last meeting with the journalist, when she asked him directly: “Do you like women?” An open secret, which the Italian woman accidentally uncovered five years ago.

“We, the last time we saw each other, I did an interview with you. Do you remember?” Toñi Moreno began by saying to the guest. “Of course I remember,” she answered, covering her face with her hands.

“A question I asked:” You have everything I want: you have a beautiful girl, you sing very well, and I will never be able to sing well…’. And I did like this: ‘Well, you can keep your husband’. And you, quite naturally, told me: ‘Because of course, you like girls’”.

To which Pausini, after letting out a nervous laugh, replied: “Of course, because I thought it was known.” “Of course it was known”, assured the presenter, “it was an open secret. What happens is that I had never counted it. Suddenly you took it out. You pushed me out of the closet.”

And, while they both held hands, Toñi told her: “I have to thank you. From that moment on, I felt much freer when doing interviews. And I’m not going to be able to sing well in life, I’m still a lesbian, but now I have a girl”.

After the broadcast of the interview, Toñi Moreno wanted to comment on his feelings to his colleagues from the set and to clarify certain things regarding his involuntary and notorious coming out of the closet. “I had not seen Laura since the interview. There were many headlines, because it is true that in this country we are scandalized by everything, ”she explained.

“I went to see her this week and thanked her for one simple reason. I have a very one-on-one relationship with the audience. Until that interview, I was kind of tense because I thought: ‘If I ask people about their private life, at some point someone will rebel against me and ask me about mine, and I don’t know if I want to share it’”, assured.

In this regard, the communicator was honest with a: “Many times I created more problems in my head than it really was. My environment knew my life, but I wanted to keep that to myself. But when the Italian put him at that crossroads, Toñi thought: “What do I do now lie? Or tell people: ‘No, I’m in love with life’?

For this reason, he banged on the table and explained: “Well no, I’m going to be honest with my life, honest with the public. And, since then, it’s something like I freed myself, I took 30 kilos off my shoulders… Because loving is always wonderful”.

“Toñi, did you have any problem?” asked Jesús Manuel Ruiz, one of the program’s commentators. “Nothing, quite the opposite. Support and a lot of love, ”Moreno acknowledged. And, to end the topic, the presenter stated:

“I don’t feel like a champion of anything, I feel small in many things, but every time I’m a little more activist. Well, not an activist, but since I have my daughter. I want to raise her from the truth. I don’t want my daughter to have a lie in her life. When she asks questions, I will answer her.
