In 2020, Enrique Ponce and Paloma Cuevas ended 24 years of relationship. The couple, with two daughters in common, was considered one of the most solid on the national scene. However, the appearance of the young Ana Soria in the right-hander’s life caused a true tsunami to occur in the media, far from the discretion that had always characterized the marriage.

The divorce ended up being signed many months later, and both seem happy separately. The right-hander continues his relationship with the woman from Almeria, while Paloma Cuevas has found love with the singer Luis Miguel. Little was known about the details of her divorce, until Enrique Ponce updated the accounts of his companies, bringing to light quite revealing data.

As reported by Vanitatis, the couple established a fair distribution of their real estate properties during their divorce, but also of their companies, which for 25 years generated great economic benefits. Among others, Cetrina Sociedad Limitada, the company through which the bullfighter manages his farm in Navas de San Juan, in Jaén, which is dedicated to agricultural exploitation activities and, currently, also to the organization of events, thanks to the imposing Andalusian-style house that stands on the estate, at specific moments.

It is precisely the farm that has given clues about the economic status of the agreement reached by Enrique Ponce and Paloma Cuevas. The right-hander has updated his public accounts and it has been revealed that his ex-wife still owns 0.02% of the company’s share capital, 10 shares.

As revealed by El Confidencial, the two partners (Ponce owns 58,990 shares as owner of the company) met on June 30, 2023 to show the accounts, which are not very promising today. The farm has heavy losses, and the bullfighter has had to make some painful decisions, such as selling part of the land or having to resort to mortgage loans.

The viability of the company is in question, as the losses are beginning to be worrying. However, Ponce has other companies within its extensive assets, dedicated to activities as diverse as agricultural production or the exploitation of real estate.

With this panorama, it is not surprising that Enrique Ponce has decided to return to the ring, this being the way to inject some liquidity into his battered economy. The right-hander said goodbye – without really saying it – in 2021, after three decades as the leading figure in the arena.

“Thank you for your love and unconditional support, especially during this last year of pandemic in which I decided to defend bullfighting, move forward and give back to the world of bullfighting for how much it has given me. At this moment in my 2021 bullfighting season I have decided to take a break along the way and retire for an indefinite period,” the bullfighter announced on his social networks on June 28 of that year, after his unexpected “see you later” in the bullrings.

But come back. On May 17, a special “tour” of a royal goodbye will kick off, which will begin in Nimes (France) and will tour the major capitals and fairs of the bullfighting circuit. Initially, it is expected that Ponce will demonstrate his art for the last time for 15, at most 20 afternoons, although its entirety has yet to be defined.

His last afternoon, without a doubt, will be in Valencia, the right-hander’s homeland, after the summer. Possibly October 9, day of the Valencian Community.
