The new Supervivientes contestants have only been on the reality show for a few days and are already suffering the first consequences of the new rules of the edition, which was announced as “the most extreme” in the history of the contest.

If Carmen Borrego had to be treated by the medical team after fainting, now it was Zayra Gutiérrez who could not perform one of the tests during Tuesday’s connection in No Man’s Land due to a health problem.

The eldest daughter of José María Gutiérrez “Guti” and Arantxa de Benito had to be treated by the Survivientes medical team before starting the test, since the woman from Madrid was suffering from back pain due to the sciatica she suffers from. The survivor had to be evacuated from the island, remaining under observation until next Thursday.

Zayra will remain under the care of the medical team until the next live connection, and her stay in the program will depend on their expert assessment of her evolution in the coming hours.

It all began before the night’s test, in which the contestants had to give everything to get the desired fire. However, before starting, Laura Madrueño asked Zayra how she was feeling, since she had been suffering from back pain for some time and she could barely get up.

The Survivor team left everything in the hands of the doctors, who took Zayra out of the playground and evacuated her from the island. After examining her, they determined that she should remain under observation until next Thursday, at which time it will be decided whether she returns with her colleagues.

“She will continue with the same feeding conditions,” Carlos Sobera clarified during the live connection with the contestant, who appeared on screen visibly in pain in the bed of the hotel room to which she had been transferred. “I’m in a lot of pain,” he insisted. “I don’t know what I have, I can’t do anything and the doctor has given me strong medicine.”

“Given that your state of health is not ideal and that this contest is very, very, demanding, the medical team has ruled that they will keep you in your room for observation until Thursday,” explained Carlos Sobera from the set, which which made Zayra Gutiérrez get a little emotional, but accept the medical decision. “Hopefully on Thursday, when Jorge connects with you, he can tell you that you are still in Survivors 2024,” Sobera told him.

On set, his partner, Miki Mejías, was still paying attention to the connection. In the end, she excitedly applauded Zayra’s courage and strength. “We must remember that she gave birth 10 months ago, it is a pain that she has had since she was little,” she explained. “She needs some time to recover, but I still hope she comes back and gives more war than ever.”
