Last weekend, a 40-year-old National Police agent died while trying to stop a neighborhood fight. The events occurred in the town of Andújar, in the province of Jaén, around 10 in the morning on Sunday.
According to the witnesses, a man began to hammer the door of the neighborhood, threatening all its inhabitants. The agents moved to the building to stop the fight. When they arrived, one of the policemen began to struggle with the assailant, who was carrying a hammer and a knife in his hand. The first information claimed that the agent died from an injury he suffered.
But now it has been confirmed that the cause of death was a random shot from the agent’s partner. The policeman’s pistol went off by itself while he was struggling with the assailant and Juan José was mortally wounded. The attacker was killed a few moments later by other police officers who arrived later.
Today the Y ahora Sonsoles program has given the latest information on the case. “The bullet hits the inside of the attacker’s left thigh, goes through his leg and the bullet hits the compañero’s abdomen,” explained Carlos QuÃlez. But undoubtedly the performance of a witness in the event was key to ending the aggressor.
The Antena 3 program has been able to speak with José Alberto live about everything that happened last Sunday. ”I find the attacker upon arrival telling a neighbor to come down that he was going to kill him. The nationals arrived, tried to dissuade him, he pounced on him and the gun went off with such bad luck that he hit his partner,” he explained.
The witness claimed that the attacker hammered and stabbed the agent for which he wanted to intervene. ”I took a chance and kicked him to try to save a life,” he declared. The man also claimed to have been afraid but considered that it was something he had to do. “I didn’t think about it and I acted,” he stressed.
