The low state of mind of María Teresa Campos is worrying her closest circle. Despite the fact that her family is very aware of her. Although both his daughters Carmen Borrego and Terelu Campos, as well as his granddaughter Alejandra Rubio, have been explaining how he is doing, this week Pronto magazine has spoken with neighbors and friends, and no longer responds to their messages nor does it celebrate its traditional departure from cards.
“It is a new stage for everyone, to take great care of her, to love her very much, to support her, give her affection, pamper her… It is the law of life and it is time,” Rubio pointed out a few weeks ago, in statements to Europa Press. However, this past week the death of Laura Valenzuela, 92, who was a close friend of Las Campos, was known. The daughters of the television presenter journalist pointed out that it was not convenient for her to know the tragic news because she would surely want to attend her funeral and “I don’t think he is in a position to be here right now. She would like to give Lara a big kiss”, according to Borrego’s words.
Currently, the matriarch of Las Campos, at 81, lives in a house on the outskirts of Madrid and has no relationship with anyone, beyond her family and her driver Gustavo. In addition, currently the journalist is no longer on her own, as Borrego explained. Terelu, for her part, recognized that “we have a person at home”
According to the aforementioned publication, Campos is no longer interested in carrying out any activity. She has stopped having contact with her friends and holding her traditional card game; a date that she saw on more than one occasion in the reality show Las Campos that premiered in 2016.
“We are all very worried, because she doesn’t even take calls,” a friend of the veteran journalist assures the magazine. “I am sorry to see her so deteriorated. They have told me that she is going through bad moments, that she hardly eats and that she does not want to see anyone,” confirms Ángela, a resident of the same urbanization as the veteran journalist.
The last three years have been difficult for María Teresa Campos. Her break with Mustache Arrocet focused the media focus on throughout 2020 and 2021, but it was the fact of not having a job that caused the journalist discomfort. In March 2022 she was the guest of the program 10 minutos, by Anne Igartiburu on Telemadrid. In that warm space, she reviewed her entire professional career.
“I know that I am older, but I do not know why there is no place on any television in this country for me. I need to work, because even a little bit, it fills my life”, expressed María Teresa Campos, adding that what she wanted was to feel busy “and I am not sitting at home, that is doing me a lot of harm”, she assured.
“There will be those who think that I want more, I’m not talking about making a program, I’m talking about making a collaboration, something that makes me feel like I get up in the morning and do things […] But you can’t have everything In life, maybe I’ve had too much.”
