The unit stood out for bringing adult thrillers with terrorist themes to the Iberian Peninsula. The direction of the episodes where there were attacks forced one to watch the series with respect. And, after three seasons always well received by critics, now it is impossible not to feel expectation when seeing what Dani de la Torre and Alberto Marini, its managers, are planning.
The first images of Marbella, this new television venture, indicate a more casual tone after investigating the terrorist threats in Spain. De la Torre and Marini want to study the network of criminal gangs that meet in the Andalusian city most related to luxury tourism: from traditional crimes to cybercrimes, through old-school gangsters and young people who want to change the rules of the game.
Hugo Silva, who is now nominated for a Goya for Isabel Coixet’s Un amor, will lead the cast as César, an ambitious lawyer who knows how to twist the law to achieve all his goals. A quality drama with touches of comedy? A diversion after the responsibility of The Unit? Or a little of everything? We will clear up doubts in April when Movistar Plus premieres the first season.
Aside from Silva, the Marbella cast features Ana Isabelle, Khalid El Paisano, Aurora Moroni, Eivaut Rischen, Michael Trenor, Mohamed Said, Moha Amazian, Jesper Ace Jernberg, Manuel Calle and Elvira Mínguez.
