This is how María del Monte, the queen of sevillanas, has changed

María del Monte is one of the great artists of our country. And not only because of the successes that she has achieved throughout her career, but also because she is a benchmark for sevillanas. ‘La reina de las sevillanas’ did not have easy beginnings, but she managed to make a big break for herself in the music industry. In addition, she also made a name for herself on television as a presenter and collaborator in various programs.

The artist was born on April 26, 1962 in the Seville neighborhood of Triana. Her birth took place in the middle of the April Fair, as a sign of what the Sevillian woman would later become. She has three brothers and from a very young age she showed her passion for music.

Since she was little, she pointed to artist ways and little by little it became her dream. The singer, who was 20 years old at the time, decided to go to the casting of the Gente Joven program, which at that time was one of the great musical formats on television.

His participation in the contest was round, as the singer won the victory. And although she was very successful at that time, it was of little use to her, since she would not really succeed in music until years later.

The singer released her first album three years after participating in the contest. An album with which she failed to take off in the industry and forced her to move away from it for a while. Ella maría she returned to Seville, where she again tried to do small musical shows. Three years later, she was in a music hall in Madrid, when the producer José Luis Ulibarri proposed that she give a performance. Thanks to her, he was able to get the opportunity he was looking forward to.

With Ulibarri he was able to record a second album, called Cántame sevillanas. The album came out in 1988 and failed to have the expected success, with only 2,000 copies sold. During that summer, his life underwent a radical change, since the album went on to sell 700,000 copies. And that was how it became the most important album of his entire career, which gave him the possibility of releasing another 17 studio albums on the market.

María del Monte did not want to settle for just being an artist. She also wanted to try her luck in the world of television. The artist was the presenter and collaborator in programs such as Al compás de la copla, Esta copla suena me, La canción de mi querer, Sing to me or even giving the bells on Canal Sur. On the other hand, she has participated in great current success programs such as MasterChef Celebrity, Look who dances! or Your face sounds familiar to me.

During the past Gay Pride in Seville, the singer was in charge of giving the proclamation in her hometown. In her speech, the artist wanted to make it clear what her sexual orientation was and declare that she had formed a beautiful family.

With her emotional words, she got the audience, and later the public on social networks, to come out en masse to support the words of the Andalusian. The moment culminated when María introduced her partner, Inmaculada Casal, on stage.

After more than 23 years of dating, the couple decided to take the next step last July with a civil ceremony. Although it was not until October, when the couple was able to celebrate the wedding in a central hotel in Seville, surrounded by their family and all their friends and acquaintances.
