Summer is a time when you have to be careful with different factors. Whether due to sunstroke, burns, hydration or finding a place on the beach, during the months of June, July and August you always have to be more attentive than usual. This extra security is also aimed at thefts and possible scams. Anyone can be a victim of the “tocomocho” hoax or a fleeting hand, but depending on which stories are more surreal than others.
This is the case of the one explained by Aitor Albizua, presenter of the program El Comodín on La 1 de Televisión Española. The journalist from Arrigorriaga told through his Twitter profile the strange story of a robbery that he suffered this week. According to his account, someone would have opened his suitcase when he arrived from Bilbao at the Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport. However, they would not have taken sensitive material, but rather something more particular: two packages of Iberian ham.
“In my family we usually spend the summer in Huelva and we take advantage of the trip to buy good ham. It is cut, packaged and distributed among the family. This year my mother gave me 3 packets of ham. Approximately 150 grams in each of them ”, recounted the television host in a thread created to tell the anecdote. The journalist had to travel from Bilbao to Madrid to complete the journey, so he kept two envelopes in his suitcase and one in the backpack he was carrying.
The flight to the capital passed relatively normally, except for what happened upon arrival in the city. “Delayed flight. Nothing special. We arrive in Madrid and after more than 40 minutes waiting on carousel 14 of T4 to pick up the bags, the bags begin to come out. Mine, the last. But to my surprise… The suitcase is open!” He explained, astonished. Once the contents were checked, he discovered that the only object stolen was the two packages of ham.
“It is no longer, obviously, because of the two packages of ham. The move is feeling so vulnerable and unprotected because someone opens your suitcase, rummages through your things and decides what they take. In this case, two packages of jabugo ham. A mistrust of milk. I put the claim. They confirmed to me that this is the responsibility of the company, in this case Iberia, and they apologized for the inconvenience. From there, follow the claim process by phone or online, ”he explained.
The journalist filed a complaint with the Civil Guard station at the airport, although the agents recommended that he take further steps. “In addition, the Civil Guard agents recommended that I get in touch with an OCU association/organization to be able to follow the issue closely and that the company does not get away with it,” completed the person affected by this unusual theft.
