Marcela Basteri. A name that still, to this day, continues to stir consciences in those around Luis Miguel. The mother of Sol de México disappeared in Spain on August 19, 1986, after having spent a few months in Pisa fleeing the abuse of her partner, Luis Rey. From there, three main theories could explain the mystery: she was murdered by the singer’s father, by a drug trafficking gang, or she is still alive, admitted to a mental health center.

The tables seem to have turned in this last direction in recent years, with a new chapter beginning this week. The Argentine journalist Luis Ventura reported on the América TV program True Secrets that a court in Buenos Aires had authorized a DNA test to be carried out on a woman who could be Luis Miguel’s mother. The person involved is currently admitted to a neuropsychiatric hospital.

The story begins in 2018, when new findings in the investigation indicated that Marcela Basteri would still be alive, having traveled to Argentina. The cousins ??of the missing woman seemed convinced of this fact at the time, and the data pointed to a homeless woman. The physical characteristics of both coincided, even in the case of some moles that Basteri had on her neck. Hence her relatives traveled to check it out.

Ivana and Flavia Basteri flew to the place where she was admitted, but they could not draw clear conclusions. However, the situation has taken a turn with the authorization of genetic testing. “They take blood from his finger. They mark it on a piece of paper as if it were a blotter, five or six blood samples,” indicated Luis Ventura, pointing out how the procedure would work. The main people involved in the search were also able to react to the news.

“I’m very nervous waiting to find out if it’s my aunt. She is very well, she is cared for, she is beautiful. That Justice has authorized a DNA is very strong,” said Flavia, who is Flavia, Marcela Basteri’s niece. Ivana was totally convinced that the result would be positive. However, if the test gave a negative result, she would continue visiting the woman at the mental health center where she is admitted.

For his part, Luis Miguel himself has not yet made any type of statement in this regard. El Sol de México continues to be immersed in its tour of South America, generating doubts and questions with each passing concert. From the use of doubles to the state of his voice, his latest concerts have been a source of discussion on social networks. “I’m already telling you that on the opening day it wasn’t him who went on stage. He plays with his doubles, with his similarities,” Luis Ventura himself pointed out.
