After saying goodbye last Thursday with the visit of Alejandro Sanz, El Hormiguero returned from his weekend with Omar Montes as the star guest on Monday night. The singer promoted the concert tour that will begin on April 21, but he also recalled the day that he came to fear for his life after the vindictive cries that he launched during his visit to the World Cup in Qatar.
A few months ago he came to talk about Quejíos de un maleante, the album in which he announced that he was leaving urban music on hold to focus on flamenco, so he had to repeat the interview on the occasion of his concerts. From April to September, the one in Carabanchel will tour all of Spain.
But, in addition to the music, there was time for Pablo Motos to talk to him about the controversy that he starred in at the Fifa Fan Fest of the World Cup in Qatar last December. After his performance before thousands of Spaniards who came to see our team, the artist brought out the most demanding side of him.
“Long live Spain! And long live free love! Long live women! Let each one go with whoever they want!” he told her in a country where such messages are prohibited and highly persecuted. Although the video went viral, after a few hours she was able to return to Spain without apparent problems, but in El Hormiguero she told the truth about what happened next.
“They almost killed us,” he said to the surprise of everyone present in the stands. The receptionist at his hotel recommended that he not go in because there were people looking for him after what happened. “In the end they ended up catching me, I had to run away, I hid in a laundry…”, he assured.
His hiding was a week in which he hid under some sheets and tablecloths and waited for things to calm down: “I only left the table when they told me I had to leave for the plane.” He spent more than two hours hidden to avoid problems and even warned his family that there could be problems.
Luckily he was able to return to Spain and together with his team they arrived at the airport without major problems, although for a few moments he came to think of the worst. Despite everything, he does not regret that gesture and Omar Montes was proud: “I screwed up, I admit it, but I had to claim our things.”
