“Your face doesn’t sound familiar to me, Alfonso. Your face doesn’t sound familiar to me!” This is how surprised Sonsoles Ónega was when she saw the new image of Alfonso Díez, widower of the Duchess of Alba. It is no wonder, since the 73-year-old official seems to have managed to accomplish his mission of erasing all the wrinkles from his face.
Alfonso Díez has always taken great care of himself, and it is not surprising that he has used the magic of aesthetics to do so. Since his wife died in 2014, his public appearances have been few and far between, but every time he has been seen, he has left those who have been able to witness shocked.
At 73 years old, he has a very rejuvenated face, with a refined profile that reminds the program’s collaborators of “a mix between Andy Warhol and the actor Wilhem Dafoe.”
“When I saw Alfonso, it’s true that he shocked me,” admitted Beatriz Cortázar, who explained that the duchess’s widower had explained to her that he had undergone cataract surgery. “I love that men take care of themselves and make themselves handsome.”
“But they can’t be destroyed,” Sonsoles intervened, unable to hold back. “I have to say something or I’ll blow up… It’s made a mess! Absolutely. Not Andy Warhol or anything. He’s pouting, his nose has turned up…”
The collaborators defended that Díez’s change had been “progressive” and perhaps that was why it was so shocking for those who had not seen him in a long time, but for those who used to see him often, it did not pose a problem. “Cayetana was the one who encouraged him to do things,” said Beatriz Cortázar.
Among the touch-ups could be a facelift to combat the inevitable wrinkles and sagging of age. Let us remember that the Duchess’s husband has been having touch-ups done for many years. “I don’t know who did it, but the face is more feminine than masculine,” said Pilar Vidal.
Two years ago, the official was also in the news for his touch-ups, with rumors that he could have undergone several interventions such as a blepharoplasty to remove excess skin from the eyelids and eye bags; in addition to other less invasive ones such as facial fillers.
This year also marks the tenth anniversary of the death of the Duchess of Alba at the Palacio de las Dueñas, in Seville. The man who is now the widowed Duke of Alba de Tormes has been away from the media spotlight, without giving anything to the press except for these types of comments about his appearance or his possible relationships beyond a friendship with women of the stature of Isabel Preysler.
