Since it premiered in 2016, the First Dates program has featured a wide variety of participants and very diverse couples. From guests with cupid shirts to those with the most surreal nicknames, anyone has a place in the Cuatro program presented by Carlos Sobera. From the softest to the straightest, from the lightest to the most demanding, as this Friday’s program has shown.

One of the four couples present in the restaurant tonight was led by María, a 64-year-old all-terrain woman from Baiona, in the province of Pontevedra. From the first moment, she has been happy to be on the program, being a follower of Sobera and the program, which she watches every day. However, she soon came out with a much more fortified character, showing herself to be very demanding about her choice of man.

“I am a very faithful woman, very loving, very orderly, very disciplined,” the Galician defined herself as soon as she arrived at the restaurant. However, the most striking detail of her time on First Dates has been her love history. In conversation with Sobera himself, she herself claimed that she had been divorced for 40 years. A situation that has been endured in different ways over the decades, but whose latest relationship stands out above the ordinary.

In her own words, she lasted a year and a half with her former husband before separating, and subsequently spent another 32 years with another partner, something that the program host tried to highlight as “important.” However, the Barakaldo native was not prepared for what was hidden behind this relationship: another marriage. “That way,” María stated, confessing that the man was actually married.

“I was committed,” the Galician confessed, to Sobera’s surprise. “Ah, I was with another woman and you were the third in contention… And you lasted 32 years like that?” the Basque questioned, surprised by the attitude of the woman involved with her. Even so, Maria’s firm character kept her in front of her. “Out of sight, out of mind. And when you are in love, because you don’t see it, it’s another thing if you saw it, then turn it off and let’s go because she would consent to that,” she expressed.

This is how he was encouraged to show up to First Dates and meet Ramón, a 63-year-old salesperson from A Coruña. Even so, she continues to maintain contact with that man. “Yesterday we were eating together as friends. We get along well, which is the most important thing,” he confirmed, before meeting his suitor. A first impression that was not positive, wanting a clean mouth and finding that his counterpart was missing teeth.
