The title of the most morbid series of the season already has a candidate: 'Mary

There are so many series in production that keeping track of all the projects is a titanic, if not impossible, task. Even if they have Julianne Moore, Oscar winner and known for films like The Hours, Far from Heaven or Children of Men. On paper, Mary

To understand it, you first have to know the story of this mother and her son. Mary de Villiers, born in 1570, belonged to the lower nobility but made sure that her son, George, had the appropriate education to be able to rise with knowledge of French, dance and the rules of court etiquette of that time .

Thus George managed to penetrate the inner circle of James I of England in an unconventional way: by becoming his lover, taking advantage of the fact that he was homosexual. The series basically takes as its starting point that Mary’s intention was always to train George to seduce the monarch, taking into account an irrefutable beauty.

It is written by D.C. Moore, who had worked as a screenwriter on Killing Eve, and is based on the book The King’s Assassin by Benjamin Wooley. In the role of George, he also has an emerging talent: the English actor Nicholas Galitzine, who catapulted to fame this summer with the film Red, White and Blue Blood.

In the Amazon Prime Video production and based on another best-seller, curiously, Galitzine also played a man related to the British crown: a fictional contemporary prince of England who is in the closet and who falls in love with the son of the president of the United States.

At the moment it is unknown which content platform Mary will broadcast.
