On May 30, 2013, unexpected news shook the world of television in Spain: the sudden death of Mario Biondo, the husband of the presenter Raquel Sánchez Silva for barely a year. A decade has passed and uncertainty still surrounds his case, something that Netflix has taken advantage of to produce a documentary that is in the preparation phase and that has already been involved in strong controversies. On that platform, in addition, False love, a reality show presented by herself, will be released in a matter of days.
Given the shock caused by the death of her husband, Sánchez Silva withdrew from television for several weeks until rejoining a month after the fatal event. One of her first interventions took place on El programa de Ana Rosa and coincided with the presence of the communicator in an advertising campaign, which gave rise to a most surreal scene.
Between applause, Ana Rosa Quintana and the public of the program welcomed her partner back and showed her all their encouragement, which she also sent back in a very particular way. “A very strong kiss, Ana; a kiss to you and all your team, that I received all your messages through my Sony Xperia Z,” she said, clad in a neoprene suit with the logo of the same brand and showing her mobiles to camera.
The strange moment was due to the fact that Sánchez Silva was, at that time, the official image of the corporation. However, the coincidence of the act with her official reappearance after Biondo’s death raised blisters and she was accused of wanting to commercialize that death.
Just when 10 years have passed since this television episode, the moment has once again gone viral on social networks. The user Sonia Mangas, who regularly recovers cuts from television programs, was in charge of communicating the event on Twitter and the cut immediately began to spread like wildfire.
“I saw it live and I was shocked,” wrote a tweeter in response to the original message, adding that, until now, he thought it had happened “in 2008.” Other users agree with the same opinion: “I was blown away by this moment” or “One of the most incredible moments in the history of television” are other messages that can be read in the tweet, which has already accumulated more than 3,000 reactions.
