This Saturday the final of the Benidorm Fest took place at the Palau d’Esports l’Illa in Benidorm, the festival from which the artist who will represent Spain at Eurovision 2024 was finally chosen. The bronze microphone was finally won by Nebulossa with his theme Zorra. The Alicante artist ended her performance with a striking scream that caught the attention of the spectators, and many have wondered the hidden meaning behind it.
Finally, it will be the duo formed by María Bas and Mark Dasousa that will represent Spain in the next edition of Eurovision in Malmö (Sweden). During the Benidorm Fest final this Saturday, all the participants showed off their musical commitment, and there were several favorites to take first place. After María Pelaé, who acted first, came St. Pedro, Angy Fernández and Jorge Gónzalez. After the Madrid native, it was Nebulossa’s turn. As expected, her performance brought the entire venue to its feet.
As we said, the end of the duo’s performance surprised many, as María Bas let out a scream that many did not fully understand. “Throw the glass, throw the glass!” exclaimed the woman from Alicante. What many did not know is that this cry is part of an iconic moment of LGTBIQ activism, when transgender councilor Manuela Trasobares starred in a viral video on a Channel 9 program, throwing a glass on the ground in protest. “I am a woman, Manuela Trasobares and no one, no one can say otherwise,” she said then, becoming an icon for the group.
This is a new nod from the duo, the councilor, since Nebulossa pays tribute to Manuela in the official video clip of the song Zorra. The singer of the song wears a costume similar to the one Trasobares wore at the time she ‘threw the cup’ on the Valencian Community television channel (by the way, extinct in November 2013).
This Alicante electropop duo, born in 2018, showed signs of success in the final of the festival. Two years after his musical birth, his first single, La Colmena, came to light. From that moment on, their musical career began to grow by leaps and bounds: they presented the album Poliédrica de Mí in 2021, where some of their most famous songs are found, such as Glam or Armada Roja, and that made them travel around Spain giving concerts all over the country. territory. Then came the Benidorm Fest. And with it, the most important moment of his professional career.
