Ana Garcés’s life has never been the same since the premiere of La Promesa. The young woman from Valladolid has gone from working in a clothing store to being the protagonist of one of the most successful novels in the country, at only 23 years old.
After studying Dramatic Art in her hometown, the young woman decided to pursue her artistic career by moving to Madrid, where she did not have much luck at first as an actress. Fortunately, after several castings, the role of Jana Expósito fell into her hands, changing her life completely.
“I studied Dramatic Art in Valladolid, because I’m from there. When I came here to Madrid, I went into a clothing store to be able to pay for the apartment, obviously, and combine it with castings, but none came out,” reveals the actress at a meeting with the media.
Garcés had been working as a sales assistant for nine months when an opportunity came that would change everything. “My contract at the store ended the same week they hired me for The Promise. I was very, very lucky,” says the actress, who lived a dream.
One of the fundamental pillars for the interpreter has been her family. “She has always supported me a lot. My mother always told me: ‘Look, honey, if you want to dedicate yourself to this, do it. And if then you have to work as a waitress, well, you work as a waitress and absolutely nothing happens,” Garcés reveals.
Currently, the actress is enjoying this opportunity that life has given her, playing the protagonist of one of the most successful novels. La Promesa, broadcast on La 1, mixes a story of revenge and love, set in Córdoba in 1913.
