The sad decline of Alain Delon

The family conflict carried out by the Delon clan has France on edge. The exchange of accusations between the actor, 88, and his three children regarding the former’s health has taken on such a magnitude that the French justice system has had to intervene. Specifically, the Prosecutor’s Office of Montargis, where the movie star resides, has ordered a medical examination of his state of health to determine whether to place him under judicial protection.

The prosecutor explained in a statement that he has received two different demands regarding the urgency of placing what has been an icon of French cinema under judicial protection. One is from the actor’s eldest son, Anthony Delon, who believes that his sister Anouchka is manipulating their father, and the other from Alain Delon’s own lawyer, Christophe Ayela, who is also from his daughter, and who believes that the actor is in danger after the “abrupt interruption of medical treatments” that the sons had supposedly authorized.

To add insult to injury, the interpreter’s former partner and caregiver, Hiromi Rollin, has entered the scene, whom Delon’s three children jointly denounced last summer for psychological abuse towards him. Rollin has reported to the authorities an “attempted voluntary manslaughter” against Delon by his children. Rollin’s lawyer, Yassine Bouzrou, has asked the same Montargis Prosecutor’s Office that “investigations be carried out urgently.” The letter sent to the Prosecutor’s Office highlights that Delon’s children “are aware that (these treatments) are vital” for the actor and that his termination “would precipitate his death.”

The lawyer for the patriarch of the clan sees the need for “regular monitoring” with “periodic examinations, care and check-ups.” Furthermore, it seems essential to him that he “continue the treatment that he started during his last stay” in the Swiss clinic where he went in June 2021. Anouchka, 33, is the only one who seems to agree with this approach, so She is in open conflict with her two brothers, Anthony, 59, and Alain-Fabien, 29. She wants her father to return to Switzerland, where she lives, while the brothers prefer him to stay in France. Anthony and Alain-Fabien consider that what worries Anouchka, who will inherit half of Delon’s assets while they will share the other half, is that Alain Delon “will once again be considered a French citizen”, which would entail “a huge tax” post mortem.

According to the version of the father and daughter’s lawyer, Anthony Delon has decided to administer to his father a regimen based on “fruit and vegetable juices prescribed by a naturopath” because in his view his father “should no longer receive real treatment, but only palliative care.”

In an interview on Paris Match in which he claimed that his father “is weakened and can no longer stand seeing himself like this, diminished,” Anthony accused his sister of having hidden from him the results of some medical tests on his father carried out in 2019 that showed that The actor’s cognitive capacity has deteriorated since the stroke he suffered that year, which left him at a disadvantage compared to Hiromi Rollin, who was held responsible for the actor’s deterioration and isolating him from his family. Hiromi was cut out of Delon’s life and evicted from her home.

Now Anthony accuses his sister of being an accomplice, to which his younger brother, Alain-Fabien, has joined, who also speaks of “abuse of weakness to the detriment of his father.” And he calls her a hypocrite: “If you were really worried about your father’s health, you would have come to spend Christmas,” he declared. In the image that Alain-Fabien shared from these parties, the brothers were seen, but not Anouchka.

Alain Delon himself, through his lawyer, has shown himself to be “extremely shocked by the outburst orchestrated by his son Anthony”, which is why he will file a lawsuit. “He can’t stand the aggressiveness of his son Anthony, who keeps telling him that he is senile.” Anouchka has announced another defamation lawsuit against his brother. “I feel ashamed because my family life is this broken,” he said. A regrettable end for one of the last leading men of the golden age of French cinema.
