Juan Ortega is the name of the moment in the social sphere. The Sevillian bullfighter is on everyone’s lips after he stood at the altar last Saturday with his girlfriend Carmen Otte just half an hour before saying ‘I do’ in Jerez de la Frontera (Cádiz). Since then, little is known about the whereabouts of both, since they would be avoiding overexposure at all costs after this media event.

The half a thousand guests at the banquet were totally perplexed when they learned of the right-hander’s sudden decision. However, only one of them was the first to learn of the cancellation of the wedding at the last minute: Ortega called a priest, also invited to the ceremony, to inform him of his final determination.

This is Josep María Quintana, a Catalan priest who already played an important role in the connection between Tamara Falcó and Íñigo Onieva after the latter’s infidelities. Quintana had avoided making statements to the media, but this Thursday he broke his silence in a conversation with Y Ahora Sonsoles, from Antena 3.

Through an exchange of WhatsApp messages, the priest clarifies some of the information that had been released to date. “Juan did not call me to ask for advice, he called me minutes before the wedding to tell me that he was not getting married, without giving me any further explanations,” he said.

According to his own words, Quintana did not make any recommendation to Juan Ortega regarding the decision he intended to make. “That’s not true, he is very affected. Many lies are being told. I was the first one who was surprised,” he wrote in the conversation with the Y Ahora Sonsoles team.

The priest has also assured that, after telling him, he immediately communicated it to his most trusted friends. “Juan called the people closest to him to tell them that he was not getting married,” concluded Josep María Quintana.
