Bertín Osborne has been the unexpected protagonist of the gatherings, interviews, covers and articles of the world of the heart in recent weeks. After finding out about the pregnancy of Gabriela Guillén, whom the artist classified at the time as “a special friend”, Chabeli Navarro appeared on the scene, confessing that she had also been expecting a child from the singer in 2021, before being prompted to terminate the pregnancy .

This double controversy has even reached beyond the television channels, web pages or magazines, even reaching the political world. Specifically, in the day to day and the governance of the town of Alfaro, in La Rioja. The town’s two main parties, PSOE and PP, have clashed in tense verbal exchanges after Osborne was scheduled to perform live in town on August 15.

This story starts before the municipal and general elections, when the socialist party governed in Alfaro. At that time, they had agreed on the date of the concert with the singer Antonio Carmona, ex-vocalist of the flamenco fusion group Ketama. After the elections, the Popular Party occupied the mayor’s office and hired Osborne for the performance on August 15 at the town festivals, despite having a cache that amounts to 16,000 euros.

Several citizens of the town and the PSOE itself have opposed the participation of the Madrid singer, classifying him as “macho” after everything that happened. The red political formation has come to accuse the blues of wanting to launder their controversial statements about Gabriela Guillén and Chabeli Navarro with public money. For their part, the popular ones have defended that the hiring has been carried out using musical criteria, not personal ones.

“The most serious thing of all is to bring to Alfaro a man who every four days makes sexist and homophobic statements and says things that cannot be whitewashed,” commented the socialist Raquel Pedraja, who was the councilor for Festejos de Alfaro in the previous legislature. For her part, the current mayoress, the popular Yolanda Preciado, even went so far as to deny that there was any type of contract set for Antonio Carmona for August 15.

“Until now we have not found out that Antonio Carmona was in the process of being hired and, since we don’t have anything for that day, the first thing we are looking for is a great orchestra to respond to a different type of public than the other two proposals, because we believe that It is what the people ask for”, he indicated. After not finding any orchestra of the specified type, Preciado indicated that the option of Bertín Osborne arose, but that nothing was closed until this Thursday.
