Daniel Sancho is one week away from appearing before the judge again on November 27. It was at the first hearing where Rodolfo Sancho’s son decided to accept only one of the charges that the Prosecutor’s Office accused him of in its final report: that of hiding the body. On the other hand, he did not admit to having murdered Edwin Arrieta with premeditation and to having disposed of his private documents.

For this reason, he faces the entire machinery of the prosecutors against him. “If Daniel had confessed everything, there would be no possibility of the death penalty,” said one of the highest authorities in the Thai Prosecutor’s Office. However, Sancho now faces the possibility of being sentenced to this capital punishment with the strategy that his team, led by Marcos García Montes, is carrying out.

As the lawyer himself assured, they are going to put all their efforts into proving that the death of the Colombian surgeon occurred due to a fight. “And that in a struggle this man falls into a bathtub and almost fractures his occipital bone, which is the cause of death, so we are at most reckless homicide,” he stated.

Something that Colonel Panya Niratimanon, head of the Koh Phangan Police Station, wanted to deny for the program Let’s see. “Accidental? No, no. The fracture of Edwin’s skull was not accidental, Daniel Sancho grabbed his head and hit him against the sink, we have proven it,” he stated forcefully.

The agent answers all the reporter’s questions, first consulting with James, his number two, who was with Daniel Sancho throughout the reconstruction. “Sancho’s lawyer only listened to Daniel, not the rest, he only has his version,” he added. After this, he has assured that if they accuse a murder with premeditation, they do so with “conclusive evidence.”

Likewise, he wanted to make it clear that if they are going all out it is because Daniel Sancho confessed premeditation during his confession: “He confessed that he had bought knives, and of course we have everything he used to dismember his body.”

Panya Niratimanon is clear that they will do anything to prove their side. “Daniel’s entire detailed confession coincides with all the evidence we found: biological evidence, knives, bags, gloves, bed, witnesses…” she assured. Likewise, he has stated that Daniel Sancho did not travel to Thailand from Spain, as his defense claims.

On the other hand, and after this interview came to light, Marcos García Montes has contacted the program to clarify some things. “The defense brief will be based on Thai legislation,” he reported from space. “On Monday the prosecutor has to present his evidence, and then they will present their brief with prepared evidence, with witnesses, experts and criminological reports carried out here in Spain,” they concluded.
