The fifth gala of ‘OT 2023’, which marked the opening of the year 2024 this January 1, left the audience shocked to witness the expulsion of Salma, one of the nominated contestants of the night.
Álex Márquez and Salma faced the nomination, performing “Bailemos” and “When love sets sail”, respectively. Despite the perception of Buika, a member of the jury, who described Álex’s performance as “extremely energetic”, it was Salma who became the first expelled in 2024.
The result, with 60.3% of the votes in favor of Álex Márquez, unleashed outrage on social networks, where Salma’s followers expressed their frustration with comments such as “Another injustice. Men always… Carpetistas “Salma a la repesca” and “No, it’s not fair.”
The accusation that the audience was biased was also echoed in messages such as “I’m not surprised, but I’m just going to say that you voted terribly.”
The tone of indignation rose with comments that questioned the audience’s ability to vote, going so far as to state: “After expelling Salma, my question is: are you deaf? Seriously speaking” and “I am exhausted with Salma’s expulsion. “You have voted with the Wachumí.” Criticism was immediate, with comments such as “You don’t know how to vote” and “Once again you don’t value talent.”
The unrest reached its peak with a comment that expressed general discontent: “How badly Spain votes. Really, how disgusting!” Salma’s expulsion leaves the audience divided and raises questions about the voting criteria in a contest where perception and personal taste play a crucial role in the fate of the contestants.
