An average of sixty people disappear every day in Spain, according to data compiled by the Annual Missing Persons Report. Some data that always comes to light on March 9, National Day of Persons Missing Without Apparent Cause. A date that began after the loss of contact with Cristina Bergua in 1997, but that has not been able to avoid cases such as that of Yéremi Vargas in the Canary Islands.

During this Tuesday’s broadcast of And Now Sonsoles, the Antena 3 evening show reported on a new disappearance that keeps the police active. This is Rosa Elena Solsona Catalán ‘Rosi’, a 45-year-old woman from Castellón de la Plana who was last seen last Sunday around 10 in the morning. During that period of time, she left her cell phone at her house, took her car and drove away without leaving any explanation.

The last images we have of her were captured by the security camera of a gas station, which saw her driving on the road next to the business. The vehicle, a light brown Lancia Ypsilon, was traveling towards Almazora and was caught at a roundabout. The collaboration of other gas stations, providing video surveillance footage of her, made it possible to follow her trail to the vicinity of Nules, about 18 kilometers from Castellón.

Sonsoles Ónega has had the opportunity to speak with Miguel Ángel, Rosa Elena’s husband, who has provided more information about the case. According to him, his wife suffered from anxiety but she took medication and was under control. At first she believed that someone could have taken her by force, but viewing the security cameras allowed her to come to the conclusion that she could have suffered a depressive outbreak.

Miguel Ángel also thanked the collaboration of several of the gas stations with which he spoke to request the images, while he expressed his annoyance in the case of others regarding the security protocol. Likewise, he was dissatisfied with the fact that the police did not share the details of the search with him, having organized a tracking group of up to 450 people, tallying data and combing areas.

“She had asked for a vacation and we were dealing with logistical issues regarding suitcases and children. She told me that she was going to the stables for a moment, that she was coming back to eat and I ordered a chicken. At 1:00 p.m., having not heard from her, she already missed me; but when I saw that she hadn’t picked up her cell phone I started to get seriously worried. When three in the afternoon struck I already knew that something bad was happening,” she commented in an interview with El Periódico Mediterráneo.
