The gestures that demonstrate the galloping crisis between Frederick and Mary of Denmark

Three months have passed since Frederick of Denmark succeeded his mother as king of the Nordic country after her unexpected abdication. At the same time, five years have passed since the images of the monarch with Genoveva Casanova walking through the streets of Madrid came to light. A scandal that brought to the table the discontent of his wife.

So much so, that it was suggested that Mary would have been the cause of the change of king in order to return to normality. And, although they are trying, there are many signs that indicate that the couple is not having their best moment.

If something has caught our attention during these first months of reign, it is that Frederick X has been missing from public life. The monarch has stayed away from the media spotlight, leaving all the limelight to his wife. So much so that after Easter, Mary has attended four official events, while her husband has barely been seen.

One of the only and last moments in which the couple could be seen together was for Queen Margaret’s birthday this Tuesday. They both went to the palace where the meal was being held and Mary could not help but show a face of pain due to the fire in the Copenhagen stock exchange building.

The wife of King Frederick X tried to smile in the pose, barely succeeding. A gesture that several media outlets also suggest could be due to her discomfort at sharing a plane with her husband again, further asserting this possible marital crisis.

But, without a doubt, what has set off alarm bells has been the disappearance of the monarch in contrast to Mary’s appearances. Some in which the queen could not be seen at all smiling, showing a serious countenance in almost all of her acts, as reflected in Semana magazine.

Decisions that have come after the controversial vacation that the kings of Denmark took shortly after ascending the throne and that would have caused the Royal Family team to decide that the official acts on the part of the queen would have to be intensified. Barely a month after accepting their roles as new kings, they took a break as a family, perhaps to finish assimilating everything that had happened in recent months, and they earned criticism from the citizens.

But if there is something that is still present in the marriage, it is the controversy with Genoveva Casanova. Since then, in the few acts they have done together, the kings avoid touching each other or meeting their gaze. Now, it remains to be seen how they will act on May 26 when they go out to greet the balcony of the palace for the 56th birthday of Frederick of Denmark.
