Daniel Sancho, son of actor Rodolfo Sancho, is under arrest in Thailand after being accused of murdering Edwin Arrieta Arteaga, a Colombian surgeon with whom he was on vacation on an island in Thailand. The 29-year-old man would have initially denied having killed the doctor, but later confessed to the police that he himself was the one who killed and dismembered him. This Sunday, the local authorities have provided images of the young man in a hotel on the island of Koh Phangan along with evidence of the crime.

It was last Thursday when the authorities found the parts of the body of the Colombian surgeon, including the hips and thighs, in a landfill. It was then that the son of the renowned Spanish actor went to the police station to report the disappearance of his friend. Finally, and after initially denying it, he acknowledged that he himself had carried out the crime. After questioning him on Friday, the Spanish chef was arrested on Saturday and had to accompany the agents to the places where he allegedly dumped the different parts of Edwin’s body. The young man would have thrown the doctor’s remains into the landfill and into the sea.

As the Thai police have assured EFE, Daniel has revealed that he did it out of “jealousy” and fear that he would be deceived. A hypothesis that the police had previously considered, as the tabloid Bangkok Post announced a few hours ago. According to the victim’s relatives, the couple had been dating for more than a year, and they had agreed to travel and meet in Koh Phangan. The last image we have of the victim alive is from Wednesday August 2, on a motorcycle with Daniel Sancho, so from the beginning the police pointed him out as a possible perpetrator of the events.

On the other hand, as specified by the latest information, the son of the renowned actor was caught buying knives, a saw and garbage bags at the beginning of the week. This is shown by security cameras in the area. It also drew attention that, after going to the police station to file the disappearance report, the young man had scratches and cuts on his body, something that seems key to the investigation.

According to the aforementioned media, which cites police sources, after killing him, Sancho would have dismembered the victim into 14 parts, and would have distributed them in a travel bag and plastic bags. The plastic bags would have been thrown into the landfill and the travel bag would have been thrown into the sea on Salad beach, near the hotel where he was staying during this visit to the Asian country. Precisely, his room in the hotel would have been key, since when reviewing it, the investigators realized that the refrigerator, the bathroom and the kitchen sink had been washed, and in the drains they found traces of blood, grease and hair. .

After his arrest, his visa has been revoked and on Monday he will go to court, at which time it will be decided whether or not he is guilty of this high-profile case. The situation of the alleged murderer is very complicated, since in Thailand people accused of murder can face the death penalty. The Spanish Embassy in Bangkok (Thailand) is already providing assistance, as confirmed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and reported by EFE. We will have to wait to know more details about this case.
