This Tuesday we learned the sad news of the death of one of the most popular faces on television, María Teresa Campos. The mythical communicator was admitted to the Fundación Jiménez Díaz hospital in Madrid on Sunday, September 3, due to respiratory failure.

After hours of uncertainty about her state of health, the worst omens came true and the journalist died at dawn on Tuesday, surrounded by her closest circle. Her remains were transferred to the La Paz funeral home, in the Madrid town of Tres Cantos. A burning chapel has been set up there, so that her family and friends can say goodbye to the presenter.

His daughters, Terelu Campos and Carmen Borrego have been the first to reach the place. Hours later, the two reappeared before the cameras and gave their first words. ”You have lost one of the great professionals in this country, but we have lost our mother. It has been a very difficult and long road. Unfortunately, it has been a journey of almost a year,” assured Terelu Campos excitedly.

”She has left with the love of her daughters, the love of her three grandchildren, her brothers and surrounded by a lot of love, which was what she has always given us. We have tried to return everything that she has given us,” confessed Carmen Borrego.

But the interventions on television programs by the daughters of the deceased journalist have continued. A few hours later, the eldest daughter of María Teresa Campos went live on the program Y ahora Sonsoles. ”María Teresa Campos has left, but for us our mother has left us, in that sense it is very difficult to see the dimension. We knew what our mother was, but in the end we lived in a very different mix from the rest of the public”, assured Terelu Campos.

The eldest daughter of the veteran journalist wanted to thank everyone for their affection, such as the acting president of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, the King and Queen of Spain and the president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso.

The presenter assured that María Teresa Campos was one of the first to pave the way for many generations and that her courage and professionalism have always been an example in the world of journalism. ”The first person who has always been able to tell you is the great professional that you have inherited, how great your father is. He has been part of my mother’s life. I know that they have always loved and respected each other a lot, but she has been a fighter in a man’s world,” Terelu declared.
