The case of the murder of a Colombian surgeon on the Thai island of Koh Phangan has taken a shocking turn with the implication of Daniel Sancho Bronchalo, son of renowned Spanish actor Rodolfo Sancho. The revelations that emerge on social networks and accumulated evidence have shed light on the dark event.
Daniel Sancho, 29, is in police custody after human remains were discovered in a landfill on the island. The crime points to the Colombian surgeon Edwin Arrieta Arteaga, 44, who had been in a relationship with Sancho for more than a year. Sancho initially denied being involved, but eventually confessed to the crime after police questioning.
According to Sancho’s version, the fateful meeting took place in the hotel room they had reserved on the Thai island. The Spaniard’s account points to a violent confrontation that ended Arrieta’s life. Later, Sancho confessed to having “cut the body into 14 pieces” and having arranged the remains in several bags that he threw into a garbage dump and into the sea.
What is surprising is how Sancho’s own social networks seem to have left a trail of clues. A photograph of Sancho in custody, showing a tattoo on his arm, matched images on his Instagram account. In addition, it was discovered that Sancho was following Edwin Arrieta on this platform, supporting the relationship between the two.
Authorities continue to investigate the motives behind the crime. The provincial police commissioner suggests that it could be related to jealousy. Evidence collected, including Sancho’s purchase of knives and cleaning supplies, indicates possible premeditation.
Daniel Sancho, who works as a chef in Madrid, faces serious charges for the murder of his partner, a prestigious Colombian plastic surgeon. The case has resonated in the media both for the brutality of the crime and for the unexpected connection to the son of a famous Spanish actor.
The Spanish Embassy in Thailand has provided consular assistance to Sancho, while the authorities investigate the case.
