Roberto Verino has presented this Friday at the Teatro Fernán Gómez, Cultural Center of the Villa, an audiovisual exhibition that portrays the style of the firm and its timeless elegance through archive images starring famous topmodels of the nineties. “This exhibition is much more than a retrospective and compilation of photographs by the best fashion photographers. It is a form of self-expression and a reflection of the power and what fashion is in our country”, explained the couturier during the presentation in Madrid, his “second home”.

Under the talented eye of artists such as Eloy Lozano, Paco Navarro, Jacques Olivar, Javier Salas and Javier Márquez, models such as Christie Turlington, Olatz, Helena Christensen and Nieves Álvarez – Verino’s eternal muses – exude the essence of the Spanish luxury brand and its track record over the years. In the same inaugural act, the designer has assured that women always are and will be his muses and main source of inspiration: “they are the true reference points of our society and we have to continue putting them in their rightful place; praise them and encourage them to shine and it is something that this artistic exercise makes clear”, he explained.

The inauguration has had an exclusive group of guests including journalists, friends of Verino and political personalities such as Andrea Levy and Yolanda Díaz. The latter has revealed to La Vanguardia that her intention is to include fashion and its industry as one of the action points of the Sumar platform.

In addition to being a heartfelt tribute to the brand’s trajectory on its 40th anniversary, the show values ??the role of women in the fashion industry through iconic catwalk references. It was them, Christy Turlington, Helena Christensen or the Spanish Nieves Álvarez, who inspired and praised the designs of Roberto Verino in the 90s, thus elevating Spanish fashion on the world scene. “If something has obsessed me over these years, it is listening to them, making them feel valued and pampered so that their crucial role in driving many of the great changes is appreciated”, the famous designer has sentenced before the guests.

The exhibition baptized as Cuarentamasuno by Roberto Verino, started in Verín in June 2022 on the occasion of the commemoration of the firm’s fortieth anniversary. Now it lands in Madrid within the Madrid City Council’s Capital of Fashion project and will remain open to the public at the Fernán Gómez Theater until April 10.
