A week ago, Netflix premiered the popular series The Asunta Case, based on the terrible crime of Asunta Basterra Porto, a twelve-year-old girl who was murdered by her own parents, Alfonso Basterra and Rosario Porto, in the Galician municipality of Teo on December 21. September of 2013.

After a long and tedious judicial process, the journalist and the lawyer were sentenced to 18 years in prison for the murder of the little girl, of which to this day there are still many unknowns to be resolved. The premiere of the 6-episode miniseries has once again put the case at the center of the media focus and since April 26, the testimonies and information related to the matter have not stopped.

Without going any further, this morning, Patricia Pardo spoke on the subject on the set of Vamos a Ver. The 40-year-old journalist was one of the professionals in the sector who had to cover the murder of Asunta from Santiago de Compostela in the year 2013. Pardo lived the case very closely and was aware of all the details of it.

For this reason, the presenter wanted to talk at length about Netflix fiction, about which she says she feels “deeply disappointed.” ”For me it is not faithful to reality. I covered the case from day one and I don’t recognize the main characters,’ she began by saying.

”Justice is not done to the girl, to Asunta, because she does not appear, she is the motive, she is the corpse and she is the victim of the crime, but she was a brilliant girl in everything she did, she taught English, French, Chinese, ballet. She was a very good person and I think the series does not do her justice,’ the journalist revealed that at the time she was able to speak with the little girl’s closest circle.

However, the journalist also wanted to praise the interpretive work that the two leading actors had done. ”I have watched the series in one sitting because it is short, only 6 chapters. I think it is wonderful mainly because of the interpretation of Candela Peña and Tristán Ulloa. Candela reincarnates Rosario, more than imitating her, she has been able to understand and capture the essence of Rosario, her vulnerability, her gestures and the peculiar laugh that she had, “said the presenter.
