The complicated search for love continues on the small screen thanks to First Dates. On Tuesday night, Carlos Sobera and Laura Boado welcomed a new batch of diners who showed up at Cuatro’s space with the hope of meeting someone with similar tastes. But going to the program does not guarantee that you will go hand in hand with someone and many are greatly disappointed from the first moment.
Two of the stars of the night were Maite and Ramón. The 84-year-old Catalan single arrived at the restaurant of love accompanied by her granddaughter Noelia. ”I come with her as punishment because she was the one who targeted me,” the single woman commented. ”My grandmother’s ideal partner has to have money and hair,” said her granddaughter. ”I don’t want an obese person because she shows that she doesn’t move,” Maite stressed.
Moments later, Ramón, an 88-year-old Catalan bachelor, appeared at the restaurant. ”I’m like a kid. “I am very active,” he declared. However, the good energy with which they both arrived at the place was going to disappear as soon as they met. ”I see very little of him…I wanted a thin person, but I didn’t say wasted,” she stated. ”He has rotten teeth and that affects me when I kiss him,” he asserted.
The evening began with the singles catching up on their lives. Ramón said that he had been widowed for six years and that he wanted to find a woman to stop being alone. ”I don’t see myself next to such a weak person,” she confessed. As for his hobbies, Ramón confessed that he really liked going for walks and doing word searches. ”It’s sad, it’s like I’m very hungry,” said the Catalan.
Shortly after, the bachelor discovered that Maite was four years younger than him and attacked her. ”She looks better, she looks like my grandmother with wrinkles. “I’m 88 years old and I don’t have that many wrinkles,” he declared. But Maite was not far behind and did the same when she knew her age. ”She doesn’t look very old, she looks worn out,” she said.
At one point during the evening, the two were talking about their former professions. Furthermore, Maite confessed some of the misfortunes that had happened to her in recent months. ”In May I was hit by a car and two lifelong friends also died,” she said. ”I don’t think it’s right that he talks about death, it’s irrelevant,” he said.
During the time of paying the bill, Ramón decided to invite Maite to dinner. A gesture that was not to the liking of the single woman, who refused to let the bachelor pay her share. Therefore, there were no surprises in the decision and both were rejected.
