Judicial setback for actress María León after the first section of the Provincial Court of Seville has dismissed the appeal presented by the interpreter against her arrest in the early hours of October 1, 2022 after resisting the Local Police, understanding that The actions of said body were in accordance with the Law.
In the order, of six pages and signed by three magistrates, the Court has rejected the appeal presented by the actress, the third in which she claims this same matter, the judges highlighting that the argument that she was detained for not identifying herself is rejected, but rather it was for escaping from the police car in which she was being transported to be identified at the police station.
According to the order, “there is not the slightest indication that the Local Police officers” who detained the actress “intentionally attacked and injured her.” In this way, the court confirms the decision of the Investigative Court number 18 of Seville to archive the complaint that León filed against the agents who arrested her.
María León and her lawyers point out in the appeal that the interpreter “had been restrained by the agents, suffering physical injuries (erosions on the right knee and both wrists)”, and that after having been treated at the health center, “she would have been instructed on her rights once in police stations.
The complainants also complain that the actress was denied the opportunity to clean herself “and maintain her personal hygiene,” but the order indicates that she attacked an agent “hitting her with a punch and a kick.”
“We were not able to identify facts that could merit criminal charges against the acting agents and, in that sense, we consider the instructor’s criteria to be correct,” they indicate, noting with respect to her injuries that “she would have physically confronted the Police and would have had to be reduced after being hit when she tried to flee, eventually falling to the ground.
