A few days ago, Cayetana Guillén Cuervo made one of the hardest confessions of her life: when she was only six years old, she suffered “a very strong sexual assault.” This is revealed in the documentary Mapa a Pandataria, which can currently be seen for free on Caixaforum.
“I had never spoken about this again in my life. I remember very clearly; about that age and what happened,” says the president of the Academy of Performing Arts, who shared this terrible episode in her life for the first time after hearing the personal stories of the rest of the protagonists of the documentary.
The actress and presenter has received the support of many colleagues. Among them, the veteran Marisa Paredes, who has made a forceful statement after her confession: “We have all been raped at some point.”
Marisa Paredes applauded her partner’s confession at the Gaudí Catalan Film Awards gala. “All women have been raped at some point. Sometimes with knowledge and other times without knowledge, but come on, with force and violence that is much worse,” stated the veteran actress.
Paredes also revealed that she herself had suffered some type of aggression in her long career. “I will get wet whenever I have to get wet, the shame is that more people don’t get wet because clouds and storms are falling and it would be better if we got wetter,” asked the one who was Pedro Almodóvar’s muse.
Despite all the negative things she has experienced, the winner of the 2018 Goya de Honor insists that she does not plan to retire. At 77 years old, she has a secret to her vitality, and it is precisely that: her passion for her work.
After three years of rest, the actress returned with a role in Vestidas de azul, the series by Los Javis -Javier Calvo and Javier Ambrossi- that expands the universe of Veneno. Set two years after the death of Cristina Rodríguez, Valeria returns to Valencia and finds the documentary Vestida de azul, a film that narrates the experiences of six trans women in Spain in the 80s.
“I am passionate about my work,” says the actress, who also credits her joviality to the birth of her granddaughter Telma, daughter of her daughter, María Isasi-Isasmendi; that she will soon be three years old. “Suddenly, a tiny creature, with all this wonderful curiosity.”
“It’s the greatest thing because you’ve also had children a long time ago, suddenly a tiny creature with all that wonderful curiosity and the truth is that it’s like seeing life,” insists the actress. “Innocence, all of that spoils over time. That wonder of childhood, of childhood and on top of your blood. The best.”
